Skye’s Current Project:

HATERS

When Jovie begins her junior year of high school, she’s ready for a new start. Her addict older sister has finally moved out, freeing her family from years of drug-induced trauma. Jovie swears this year will be different—no drugs will enter her bubble, ever again.

But on the first day of school, she literally collides with Hiro, the party-loving soccer star, who accidentally drops a vape right in front of a security guard. Jovie’s drug-free bubble pops, and it’s all Hiro’s fault. The two are forced to attend Schools Against Addiction, a support group where Jovie’s resentment only grows. No matter how hard she tries—good grades, her own soccer talent, not to mention a clean life—everyone assumes she’s using, thanks to her sister’s bad reputation and Hiro’s infuriating refusal to accept blame for the vape. The only times she feels no judgment are with her two best friends, her fashion-themed social media account, and, strangely, from Hiro himself. But despite his charm (and annoyingly gorgeous face), he’s a user, and Jovie has sworn off users for life.

Yet there is more to Hiro than meets the eye, and as fate keeps pulling them together, it grows increasingly harder for Jovie to keep up her walls. Now, her heart and mind are at war over one impossible question: What does it mean, exactly, to hate the addiction but love the addict?

About Skye Rosey

Hi, I’m Skye! I write fiction stories about real world magic with fantastical elements for teens and young adults. I’ve written dozens of short stories and flash-fiction, and I have several novel-length works in progress. When not writing, I love learning new languages on Duolingo, biking on the Peloton, and taking frequent Disney trips. My worldwide favorites are my awesome husband, four kids who are growing up way too fast, three leopard geckos and our darling diva of a dog.
